As the manager of Quality Systems and Assurance and a key member of the Business Excellence team you’ll be responsible for quality in business systems and operations. You will be of part of the creation of quality systems for Verizon, which includes core competencies from “Toyota Production Systems”, ISO9000, Malcolm-Baldrige quality criteria. You’ll have a customer centered view to operationalizing our Verizon Quality systems to achieve the highest quality in our products/solutions, unsurpassed customer satisfaction and shareholder value.

  • Develop strategy for QMS (Quality Management Systems) and implementation and optimization starting from zero.
  • Develop KPI’s and written business policies aligned with organizational goals and regulations and get senior leaders buy in.
  • Establish best-in-class quality goals, perform quality metrics trending, and apply problem solving, system improvements to meet these target levels of quality.
  • Oversee Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs by coordinating activities consistent with established company and management goals, objectives, Industry specific and ISO guidelines and policies.
  • Present to Senior BU and Functional leaders on Quality KPIs, processes to improve quality, how to drive a system like Toyota production System, and business governance.
  • Promote the development of a company-wide culture of quality excellence and understanding of the key elements related to quality system and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement/integrate thorough supplier quality management programs including processes for evaluating and qualifying new suppliers.
  • Act as a senior consultant for all quality related areas within the organization both internally and representing Verizon externally as needed.
  • Maintain an effective Quality Management System that assesses the appropriateness of the Quality Management System on an annual basis and makes recommendations to senior management for improvement.
  • Lead Business process audits and provide closed loop feedback to ensure process improvements are done and most importantly sustained.
  • Share best practices, participate in Industry as a thought leader.

What we’re looking for…

You are a positive, well-organized, and process-driven professional. You’ll have strong analytical and creative problem solving skills, but you will also have strong verbal and written communications skills to explain confidential and complex issues and make recommendations to senior leadership. You consistently deliver results and provide sound business judgment, strategic thinking, and broad financial and business perspective across the organization. Dynamic, proactive, and decisive; you are able to provide leadership and functional expertise in a fast moving and competitive business environment.

You’ll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Six or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Six or more years of experience in quality assurance.

Even better if you have:

  • A degree in engineering, business or scientific discipline.
  • Certified Six Sigma.
  • Experience as a change agent to deploy world class quality assurance systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Experience leading quality assurance in a large and complex organization.
  • Experience and proficiency in Toyota Production Systems or similar systems.
  • Broad and in-depth understanding of ISO standards, Malcolm-Baldrige criteria, and QMS systems.
